I help health teams make sense of their data

I'm Abimbola Adedeji. For over 25 years I've worked behind the numbers in public health research. I clean the data, build the models and explain what the results mean for real people.

Why I do this

Every number in a health study is a person. A child who got vaccinated. A mother who gave birth at home. A family sleeping under a net. My job is to count them properly, then turn the numbers into answers people can use.

How I can help

What I do, in plain words

Four ways I can help your team, whether you're running a study, a health programme or a whole portfolio of projects.

Hands marking up printed charts and graphs with a pen

Data analysis

You have survey or programme data. I clean it, check it and analyse it properly, then tell you clearly what it says.

Disease modelling

I build models that show how a disease spreads, and what changes when you add vaccines, bed nets or spraying.

Tracking and dashboards

I set up simple ways to track whether a programme is working, with Power BI dashboards so everyone can see progress at a glance.

Training teams

I teach research teams to handle their own data, from R and Excel to research ethics and safeguarding.

A little about me

26 years at NIMR, and still curious

I joined the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research in 1999 as a statistician. Over the years I worked on studies about HIV, TB, malaria, COVID-19, cholera and child deaths. I kept learning too: a degree in statistics, a master's in biostatistics, and training in disease modelling in Kenya and Rwanda. Today I lead evidence and impact at Grand Challenges Nigeria, and I'm working on a PhD in Epidemiology.

Speaking & training

I love teaching

In 2025 I trained 40 new research grantees on data analysis and monitoring. I've also taught disease mapping in R, research ethics, and how to develop safe medical products. Here's a recording of one of my online sessions.
